About Me

Back in 2008 I started To Beautify Designs, (now known as Erin Hodges design & illustration), which was a hobby refurbishing Vintage and Antique furniture and transforming it into French Provincial, French Parisian and eclectic upcycled pieces with the help of my husband James.

Painting most of my furniture either black and white I soon longed to add some colour to my pieces.  Blue hues, (such as turquoise), started appearing in some of my pieces, my favourite colour at the time and perfect for French Country style furniture.

I always had an interest in colour and Interior Design so I attended a 'Colour Workshop' with ISCD, (International School of Colour and Design).  I was so inspired by Prue, (the owner & founder of ISCD),  who made me look at colour in a whole new way, from there I knew colour was a part of me and I just had to incorporate it into my designs, so I did and turned my hobby into an online business.

I have in the last couple of years introduced illustrative pencil drawings which you will hopefully see more of in the coming year, which is mainly focused on portraits and buildings. 

  

I have a passion for mixing colour, pattern and Vintage into my Interior designs and I focus on the important aspect of functionality.


What inspires me and keeps me going :  

• Good 'hot' coffee, chai lattes but most importantly I love tea and if I can have tea in a teapot it's always preferable, (I'm a bit old fashioned like that).
• Fresh flowers that smell divine and they have to be a nice size bunch!
• Going for long drives.
• Dancing in the lounge room alone with the music up loud!
• Having a good laugh, especially with hubby and my kiddos.
• A good joke at the right time.
• Seeing something when it's transformed...I never tire of this.
• A smile from a stranger.
• Peace, solitude and quietness...especially when I'm drawing or needing inspiration.
• Seeing my kiddos playing, laughing and smiling.
• Having passion, (as oppose to apathy), for what I do. 
• Learning new things. 
• Good memories.
• ...and chocolate.
